Charities

As part of our strategy we champion two amazing charities: Smart Works Manchester and Wood Street Mission. We recently started working with Smart Works, a charity which helps women who have faced societal rejection gain meaningful employment and begin a new chapter in their lives. They do this by providing high quality interview clothing (which is all donated) and interview training to unemployed women in need. For several years, we have had the privilege of helping Wood Street Mission with their charity efforts. Based in Manchester, Wood Street Mission is a charity which supports families on low incomes who struggle to make ends meet.


The Environment

As residents of Manchester’s most sustainable building, No.1 Spinningfields, we have established a full re-cycling programme that utilises the state-of-the-art re-cycling plant. As part of this, all our refuse is weighed so that we can meticulously record our re-cycling figures and monitor wastage. At Douglas Scott we believe that simple and small changes can have the biggest impacts. We actively encourage all members of staff to help us make energy savings such as ensuring that PC’s and appliances are switched off at the end of the day. We have also installed air purifying plants to improve the quality of air in our working environment.

Well Being

The well-being of our staff is of the upmost importance as we firmly believe that happy, healthy and engaged employees will deliver service excellence to our clients and candidates. Not only do we provide fresh fruit we actively encourage our staff to keep fit and healthy. We organise weekly Football sessions and Ping Pong tournaments and take part in ‘National Calendar of Health’ events such as Dry January as well as encouraging our staff to utilise services such as our ‘cycle to work’ scheme. All our staff are entitled to their birthday day off and have the ability to earn extra days of annual leave as rewards for attendance and performance.

Our CSR champion, Christine Smith... 

Christine made a career move into legal recruitment in May 2015 and has over 20 years’ experience of the In-house sector. She worked as part of an In-house team for 13 years and following that became Operations Manager for the Commerce & Industry Group. In 2019 Christine moved onto our marketing desk to manage our events and our CSR for the business. She has also recently been instrumental in the successful re-launch of the AWS Manchester. 

Douglas Scott is committed to ensuring it has a CSR Policy in place that supports its employees, the business and the environment.   We feel it is important to have a culture of volunteering and fundraising which will enable our local charities give help to those who need it.
