London Legal Walk on track to break record

Posted in News on 28 May 2016

For the 3rd year running Douglas Scott was proud to sponsor the London Legal Support Trust's annual 10km charity fundraising walk, which took place in central London on Monday 16th May.

Over 600 teams and 10,500 walkers made sure the event was another runaway success.

The 2015 walk raised £700,000 and Natalia Rymaszewska, Chief Executive of the London Legal Support Trust is quietly confident the achievement will be eclipsed this year.

“So far we have about £10,000 more than this point last year so our projection would still be to make it over £700,000 this year – just depends on our lovely walkers collecting in the final sponsorship. But then with 10,000 of them we only need another £10 per head to break the record.”

Just to give some context to the achievement of the organisers; the first legal walk took place in 2005 and attracted 330 walkers raising £35,000. Five years ago 5,000 walkers raised nearly half a million pounds.

The trust, which counts Cherie Booth QC amongst its patrons, is an independent charity that raises funds for free legal services in London & the South East.
