Employers treat CV's like Tinder

Posted in News on 12 Feb 2015

You may spend hours preparing your CV for prospective employers to scrutinise but research carried out by the UK's youth programme - the National Citizen Service - shows that typically just 8.8 seconds is spent studying a CV

According to the study hirers' workloads have doubled in 2 years with the average number of applications received increasing 100% from 46 in 2013 to 93 today.

Entrepreneur and Dragon Den star Piers Linney said that the process of reviewing CVs "had become almost ‘Tinderised’ with each CV given just a few seconds to stand out against the competition before being kept or cast aside.”

The research highlights how tough it can be for applicants to make the shortlist and also the difficulties HR and decision makers are facing when it comes to managing the hiring process.

Douglas Scott recently released their performance statistics for 2014. 1 in 3 of the CV's we sent generated an interview and 1 in every 3 interviews resulted in a job offer. As a result we believe the specialist service we deliver is the best possible complement to any personal job search or direct recruitment campaign.
