Going into 2024 there are signs that wage inflation is under control in the legal sector. According to the data pulled from our 2024 Salary and Benefits Benchmarker survey that attracted 4,000 respondents from the UK legal sector, hirers are paying more than last year to secure new talent but that is offset by the falling demands of their existing employees. Our 5 year Legal Sector Wage Inflation Index is down 2 ticks on last year, validated by a recent CIPD Labour Market Outlook report forecasting that, for the first time since spring 2020, employee basic pay increases over the next 12 months will fall.
