1). Tell us about what do you do?

I am a specialist Legal IT recruiter here at Douglas Scott. As managing consultant, I joined the team with a brief to build the company’s Legal IT and services desk on a national scale. We can work on any position that sits within a firm’s IT function- from the very straightforward Service Desk Analyst to much more complex assignments for Case Management Developers. My team understands that industry experience is much more important for certain roles within IT than others. For instance, customer facing (internal) roles such as IT Trainers and Support require an understanding of the personalities within a law firm, how law firms make money, and the use of industry specific systems such as time recording software.

    2). Life before Douglas Scott?

Prior to Douglas Scott I was a specialist within the Business Change market. This has overlapped somewhat with IT since change within an organisation pretty much always requires advancement on Technological level. I focused on Investment Banks in the Netherlands placing Trading Systems implementation consultants (and some compliance people). I was solely responsible for winning PSL agreements with two of the largest investment banks in Europe. Within 18 Months I had multiple relationships in both banks operating at COO and Programme manager level and was recognised as being a key supplier of Calypso professionals into a £500 million programme of work.

3). Any market trends you are particularly excited about?

Artificial intelligence – the more I read about this technology the more It blows my mind. Being a child of the 80’s it’s been crazy watching tech progress from zx spectrums to Virtual Reality headsets.

4). Who would be your all-time top 3 dinner party guests?

    Oscar Wilde

    Liam Gallagher

    Billy Connolly

    5). Favourite invention and why?

A Combi Boiler. Being Irish I have a built-in fear of emersion heaters and the dangers of leaving them on. Plus, instant hot water is massively underrated!
