In House Legal Recruitment

We recently launched an In House Legal Recruitment desk and it is already bearing fruit! Tasmin Sabar is one of our Senior Recruitment Consultants and she 'heads up' the division. She delivers a high level of service to a blue chip, nationwide client base; her busiest areas are currently London, Yorkshire and Scotland.

We are taking market share!

Whilst the UK economy is huffing and puffing, Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment can proudly report that our business is going from strength to strength! Our 2011 end of year results showed a 46% increase in turnover, bettering the 18% we achieved in 2010 and maintaining the trend that has seen us grow every year since our inception in 2004.

HR Networking Lunch - Leeds Law Society

It was suits and sandwiches at the Leeds Law Society when Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment sponsored the HR Networking Lunch. Tom Cheesewright from IO Communications advised delegates on the use of Social Media as a business tool covering all the bases including Linkedin and Twitter. Jo and Nina from our Yorkshire team hosted the event thoroughly enjoyed meeting our clients in the beautiful setting of the boardroom at the Leeds Law Society.

Awards Season

Douglas Scott's three strong Yorkshire team were delighted to be invited to attend the Leeds Law Society Annual Dinner on 8th March. Joanne, Nina and Gemma thoroughly enjoyed their evening at The Queens hotel in Leeds, getting the chance to chat with many of their clients whilst celebrating all that is great within Yorkshire legal.

BPP Paralegal and Alternative Careers Fair

The team from Yorkshire attended the BPP Paralegal and Alternative Careers Fair in Leeds yesterday afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting the soon to be BPTC and LPC graduates. With exams coming up, we were able to give them some pointers, careers advice and hopefully we will place some of them in their first legal appointment after graduation! It was a great turn out as always at the BPP School and everyone at Douglas Scott wishes all the graduates the very best of luck in their legal career.

Guess what...? It’s a boy!

Huge congratulations to Dante Friend, Recruitment Consultant who manages our Midlands' based opportunities. Alfie Jack arrived safely into the world just past midnight on the 16th March. Incredibly this is the 6th baby boy in a row for the team here at Douglas Scott.  Could be the water, may be the gallons of tea and tonnes of chocolate we are obliged to consume.

Our growing team

Last month we welcomed a new recruit to the business; Lauren Howard joins our recruitment support team. Lauren is a graduate with a degree in Sociology and Criminology obtained from Manchester Metropolitan University.  Previous work experience includes financial recruitment and a period as a Court Usher at Bury County Court where she could proudly boast that she was the youngest Court Usher in the North! Laurens accomplishments know no bounds; she is also a trained ballerina, a graduate of the Northern Ballet School!

Douglas Scott Keep it Ethical

Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment are entering their 8th year as an REC member and see 2012 as an opportunity to shine a light on the benefits of dealing with agencies who have signed up to the REC Code of Conduct. Managing Director Kathryn Riley revealed "We passed our most recent REC audit with flying colours and with lots of companies now asking their suppliers to prove their ethical credentials; we would like to see hirers and candidates doing the same.

Douglas Scott Apprentice - You're Hired!

In addition to our recent commitment to developing young talent within the surrounding Manchester area, we are pleased to introduce to you the newest member of the Douglas Scott team, Kate Fairclough, who joins us as a recruit from the Apprentice Academy Association. The Apprentice Academy works in conjunction with a number of organisations, creating high quality work experience programmes for school and college leavers within the local area.
